Ahalia School of Optometry & Research Centre Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Dynamic Sports Events
Ahalia School of Optometry & Research Centre (ASORC) commemorated the 78th Independence Day with a fun-filled lineup of sporting events on August 31, 2024, and was a hive of activity. Dr. Venkataramana K, Head of Department (HOD), lit the Olympic flame and ceremoniously passed it to the Sports Secretary to officially start off the day’s festivities. This act of symbolism marked the beginning of a day devoted to sportsmanship, teamwork, and school spirit.
The students, who were split up into four houses, demonstrated their spirit of healthy competition in a range of activities that took place at the Playground in campus. Boys’ and girls’ running races, long jump, penalty shootouts, chess, Shotput, badminton, kabaddi, and mixed relay were among the sporting events. Winners of each event were awarded medals and certificates, celebrating their achievements and contributions to their houses. The award ceremony was a highlight, recognizing the dedication, skill, and sportsmanship of the participants.
The sports events held at Ahalia School of Optometry & Research Centre were with a theme of “Freedom to Play, Spirit to Win” and named it as “DHRUVAM ‘24” which was worthy celebration in connection with 78th Independence Day, embodying the values of unity, perseverance, and pride. The day not only provided a platform for athletic excellence but also fostered a strong sense of community and school spirit among students.
