Ahalia’s Continuing Medical Education (ACME – 5)

Ahalia’s Continuing Medical Education (ACME – 5) program, organized by the Ahalia School of Optometry and Research Centre, was conducted on October 19th 2024. The chief guest was Honourable Vice Chancellor of Kerala University of Health Sciences; Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal. The Honourable Vice Chancellor inaugurated the PhD program in Optometry, marking a significant milestone for the institution. The programme was on “Know Your Contacts – Unveiling Challenges and Innovations in Contact Lenses,” discussing important issues and the latest advancements and challenges in contact lens practices, alongside national and international experts in the field of optometry.

Present on the dais were Dr. V. S. Gopal, Honourable Chairman of the Ahalia Group; Dr. Sajeev Cheriyan Jacob, Medical Director of Ahalia Foundation Eye Hospital; Mr. E P B Rajithan, Vice President of the Academic Division; and Dr. K Venkataramana, Principal of Ahalia School of Optometry and Research Center. 

The Honourable Vice Chancellor emphasized the achievements of India in the field of research and the need for further studies to the new generation. Over a thousand participants from South India attended this program. In the afternoon, panel discussions on optometry topics, role play and debate were conducted. Cash awards, trophies, and certificates were presented to the winners of the ACME-5 quiz competition, role plays, and debates. This program became an opportunity for discovering advanced developments and finding solutions to challenges in optometry practices through learning and growth.
