Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) in Ahalia School of Optometry and Research Centre(ASORC) is an initiative of Kerala Startup Mission under Startup Bootcamp Scheme of Government of Kerala. Under this scheme, financial assistance is given to selected colleges for supporting innovative products and thereby build an entrepreneurial eco-system inside the campus. The mission of the IEDCs is to “develop institutional mechanism to create entrepreneurial culture in academic institutions to foster growth of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the faculty and students”.

Objective

  1. To act as an institutional mechanism for providing various including information on all aspects of enterprise building to budding entrepreneurs.
  2. To promote an entrepreneurial culture inside the Parent Institution and other local establishments.
  3. To use student projects to foster an innovative, entrepreneurship-driven culture.

Functions

  1. To conduct Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programs, Faculty Development Programs, and Skill Development Programs at the college/institution.
  2. To launch two innovative student projects annually aimed at developing new innovative products.
  3. To provide guidance and support to aspiring entrepreneurs on various topics, such as project report preparation, securing project approvals, obtaining loans and resources from support agencies, and accessing technology information.
  4. To facilitate interactions with entrepreneurs and establish a mentorship scheme for student entrepreneurs.
  5. To organize industrial visits to gain insight into current challenges faced by the industry and suggest innovative solutions.
