WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION
World Environment Day 2026 was celebrated on 5 June 2026 at Gandhi Ashram, Ramassery, jointly organized by Ahalia Group of Institutions and Gandhi Ashram, Ramassery. The programme commenced at 10:00 AM and concluded at 12:00 PM.
The event began with Manava Geetham, followed by a welcome address delivered by Mr. Puthussery Sreenivasan, Trustee, Gandhi Ashram. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. P. R. Suresh, Principal, ASET. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Biju P. C., President, Elappully Grama Panchayat.
Felicitation addresses were delivered by Bhubaneswari Amma, Karshakasree Award Winner and Chairperson of Sarvodaya Kendram, and Mr. Narayanan T. S., who shared valuable insights on environmental conservation and sustainable living. The vote of thanks was proposed by Irfana, Volunteer Secretary, NSS Unit 311, ASET.
A major highlight of the programme was the 100 Saplings Plantation Drive, conducted in the premises of Gandhi Ashram. Students and faculty members from Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology (ASET), Ahalia School of Management (ASM), Ahalia School of Commerce and Mathematics (ASCM), Ahalia School of Optometry and Research Centre (ASORC), Ahalia Ayurvedic Medical College Hospital (AAMCH), Ahalia School of Pharmacy (ASP), and Ahalia School of Paramedical Sciences (ASPS) actively participated in the initiative.
All the students cooperated enthusiastically in the plantation drive, contributing to the successful planting of more than 100 saplings. The programme effectively promoted environmental awareness and reinforced the importance of collective action towards building a greener and more sustainable future.
The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to protect nature and contribute positively to environmental conservation.
